DARWIN, Hitler, Lenin, Marx, Stalin! Just five men. Yet each in his own time profoundly altered the course of world history.
Charles Darwin developed a theory of evolution and now nearly all modern education is based on that unproven, unfounded premise. Hitler bathed Europe and Africa in blood and the scars are still etched on the face of this earth. Marx hatched the idea of Communism and Lenin put it into practice. Stalin's conquests caused cartographers to completely redraw the political map of Europe.
Each of these five men effected great changes changes that will haunt mankind for years to come. Truly, one sinner does destroy much good (Eccl. 9:18).
But, is the converse true? Can just one man or one woman accomplish a great deal of good even in today's overpopulated and troubled world? And is there any great transcendental cause extant today that one person can put his whole heart into vastly enriching the lives of thousands?

God's Perspective

First of all, how does the great Eternal Creator view the efforts of a single individual? What is His perspective?
There have been times when God was willing to pardon the sins of a whole city-if He could find ONE RIGHTEOUS MAN somewhere within its environs. Notice Jeremiah 5:1 : "Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem... and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man (JUST ONE PERSON), if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it."
Our Creator tells us that He has at times sought for such a man and failed to find him. Ezekiel records God's thoughts on the matter. "And I sought for A MAN (again only one) among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: BUT I FOUND NONE" (Ezekiel 22:30).

Anciently, He found Noah in the pre-flood world. Result? You and I exist today. (Of course, God did have to destroy pre-flood humanity as a whole after 120 years of patient warning Gen. 6:3; 1 Peter 3:20; 2 Peter 2:5.)
Later, He found Moses among His own people Israel. The result? The twelve tribes of Israel are still extant on the earth today. Turn to the 9th chapter of Deuteronomy. Here God actually purposed to destroy the entire nation of ancient Israel. And God does not "threaten" emptily as does man-He was not merely using "scare tactics" He meant it!
But, the one man Moses had his whole heart in the Work of God of that day. The earnest fervent prayer of that lone individual preserved a nation.
   What about Noah?
Those antediluvian people had descended to the depths of Satan. But Noah found grace in God's eyes (Gen. 6:8). He told Noah: "Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation" (Gen. 7:1). Apparently no one else was.
But you might conclude: "Surely these two were supermen totally free of fault." No! They were flesh and blood just like you and me. They made mistakes some fairly serious ones.
Noah got drunk. Moses ran from the call of God-broke the tables of stone in anger-was prevented from entering the Promised Land.
But both repented and overcame. Both were busily performing the Work of God of their day. BOTH HAD LOST THEMSELVES IN A CAUSE GREATER THAN THEMSELVES. President Nixon once wrote, "A man who has never lost himself in a cause bigger than himself has missed one of life's mountain top experiences" (Six Crises, page xvi).
President Nixon once wrote, "A man who has never lost himself in a cause bigger than himself has missed one of life's mountaintop experiences" (Six Crises, page xvi).
The Work of God Today

There is a great cause on earth today that God is actually in-and which He is backing.
Turn to Malachi 4:5-6. God says: "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet [in power and spirit Luke 1:17) before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." (The word "curse" is more properly rendered UTTER DESTRUCTION, and the same Hebrew word is so translated in Zech. 14:11 and I Kings 20:42.)
As in Noah's day, the Work of God today is involved in a life-and-death activity. It's all or nothing. Unless God's Work is performed in this end time unless there is an elect actually doing His Work-there won't be a man, woman, or child left alive on this earth (see Matthew 24:22).
But, happily, THERE IS AN ELECT performing the Work of God today and mankind will be saved from extermination (same verse).

Your Part

You can actually have A BIG PART in saving (INCREASING NUMBERS OF) mankind alive. Your prayers, your time and your money can be used to save thousands from terrible destruction.
You need to know how. The details are available in our free article "A Crusade For Sanity." Write for your copy today.
Whether businessman, blue-collar worker, housewife, student, or widow you can become part of a great transcendental cause.
Zacchaeus was chief among the tax collectors. Yet he was honest, and gave half of his goods to the poor. Jesus honored him by bringing the Gospel to him in person (Luke 19:1-10).
Cornelius was a Roman centurion over a hundred men. His prayers and gifts to the poor came up for a memorial before God. Result? God chose him and his family to be the first Gentiles to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:1-4,44).
Simeon was an old man but he was just and devout. As a result, God let him see the Saviour Jesus Christ before he died (Luke 2:25-32).
Anna was an 84-year-old-widow. But she worshipped God day and night. Result? Her actions are recorded in the Bible as an example to all generations (Luke 2:36-38).
So, whatever your category, you can make a significant contribution to the Work of the living God. Write for that article titled "A Crusade For Sanity." It shows that God's Work truly is "the last train to sanity." Would you like to get aboard?
