What's It Like to Be a Teen in Guyana?
Paul Krautmann

Come with us as we visit several widely different parts of the South American country of Guyana and meet Sunita, Denise and Stephanie! Imagine living on the banks of a river in an area where there are no roads. To go shopping, attend school or visit your neighbors, you have only one means of transportation - a small wooden boat. At 15, Sunita Persaud has many years' experience at leaving home around 8 a.m. in the family's six-seat boat. With her brother and sister, she paddles for half an hour to school in the village of Charity on the Pomeroon River, Guyana.
