The service and example of women are vital parts of the work of God's Church today. While the apostle Paul's God-inspired statement clearly prohibits women from being ordained to the ministry (I Corinthians 14:34), there are tremendous opportunities for women to contribute to the Church. Was Paul a male chauvinist? Is God? Are women to be put down as inferior, less intelligent and important than men? Paul was only reviewing for the Church what God had already established: In the family structure, the husband is to be the head of the woman, picturing the spiritual leadership Jesus Christ exercises over the Church (Ephesians 5:23). Men are responsible for public teaching in Sabbath services. Church services are to be conducted with men doing the speaking. But does this policy mean women have no responsibilities in the Church? The answer is a resounding no.
