PT EDITORIAL UPDATEPT EDITORIAL UPDATE

Just received some encouraging statistics from the Canadian office on the PT. At present the PT reaches some 58,750 subscribers in English and 22,758 in the French language in Canada. A newsstand program is again being launched in Canada and it appears quite successful. A total of 140,000 newsstand PTs will be on display next month in various cities.

In the United States, as Roger Lippross reported earlier, the reduced 16-page newsstand edition is doing every bit as well as the 32-page edition in terms of picking up new subscribers. That is very encouraging since we can obviously reach many more people due to the reduced costs involved.

It has come to my attention that some have been concerned that an "ad hoc" editorial department has been forming in the booklet inventory area. This is not the case. Richard Rice's area does do periodic mailings involving Church literature. They do have a very effective reprint program. But all reprints are approved through the PT Editorial Department. No new material is generated outside of this area or apart from Mr. Armstrong's personal approval. I am pr2sently working with him on a number of projects involving Church literature. All material involving mailings is merely reprinted literature already used in Church publications in some other form.
