"I'm afraid this crisis may get worse before it gets better," said Mr. C. V. Narasimhan, first-ranking Under Secretary-General of the United Nations. The Secretary General, U Thant, ill that day, was not in the office. Meetings had been scheduled, however, with Mr. Adam Malik, President of the United Nations General Assembly, and Mr. Narasimhan. I have felt since, it was very timely that these visits happened to be arranged for the very eve of this new war.
