Henry Ross Perot was born on June 27, 1930, in Texarkana, Texas, the son of an East Texas horse trader and cotton broker. He was commissioned an ensign after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1953. After working as a salesman for IBM for five years, Perot founded Electronic Data Systems Corporation and became eminently successful.
