Herbert W. Armstrong founded the Worldwide Church of God in the late 1930s, as well as Ambassador College in 1946, and was an early pioneer of radio and tele-evangelism, originally taking to the airwaves in the 1930s from Eugene, Oregon.
News of the Work - THE ENTIRE mailing list for The PLAIN TRUTH and for our Co-Workers was maintained personally by Mrs. Herbert W. Armstrong in 1934. She carefully addressed each magazine or envelope as it was sent out. When people wrote in changing their addresses or requesting any other literature that was available, Mrs. Armstrong would personally take care of the request with the only physical tools she had available to her in those days: pen and paper! There were only a few, but precious, hundred on the entire mailing list. Nevertheless, with the tools available it was a hard job, lovingly done over lung hard hours, freely given.
