BOMBAY, INDIA — BILL SIDNEY: There has been widespread violence in the wake of Mrs. Gandhi's assassination. However, God has protected His people and none of our members were affected. The death toll was probably in excess of 3,000. Then the eastern side of India was hit by a cyclone, resulting in about 500 deaths. Our members in the region were unaffected. The brethren were very inspired by Mr. Waterhouse's visit. Some are experiencing severe Sabbath trials, but they are faithfully putting the outcome in God's hands.
JOHORE BAHRU, MALAYSIA — YONG CHIN GEE: There is an increasing number of PLAIN TRUTH readers who are requesting visits. The general problem that faces them is keeping the Sabbath. Jobs are difficult to get when one doesn't work on Saturdays. However, they are challenged to trust in God to obey His commandments. A few who were determined to believe God and do what He says are now attending Sabbath services.
From Australia
PERTH, WA — BOB REGAZZOLI: This month saw a very concentrated dose of instruction on the family with the marriage sermon tape by Dr. Zimmerman, the child rearing seminar conducted by Mr. Bill Winner, and with the Bible study and sermon on the District Weekend relating to the family. We look forward to much more fruit being borne in this area of life.
CANBERRA, ACT — ROD KING: God has moved powerfully in several members' lives since the Feast. One man had a heart attack four days after returning. It was touch and go for about two days in the Coronary Care Unit. After the Church prayed for him he made a dramatic recovery. He has a family of seven children at home. It has brought the whole family together.
Also, a young PM was dramatically healed of spinal injuries suffered in a car accident. An x-ray showed the vertebrae are all back in position. All pain had left her.
ADELAIDE, SA — KERRY GUBB: YOUTH magazine subscriptions have now been placed by members into all state government, Roman Catholic and Adventist primary and secondary schools in the Adelaide metropolitan area, the Barossa Valley and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
From Canada
SAULT STE. MARIE, ONT — GARY KING: The members have shown great interest in the newsstands and other aspects of the work of God's Church. Brethren can see that the worsening economic situation means we had better put more zeal into our spiritual lives while we have time. We had one spectacular miracle this month. A member's small child fell from the top stair of a steep staircase, was picked up in mid-air and gently lowered to safety!
PRINCE ALBERT, SASK — DAVID SHERIDAN: Everyone was grateful for God's protection when a 163 kph (101 mph) windstorm ripped through the city, flattening houses under construction and uprooting trees. Over 1,500 insurance claims for damages totalling $2.5 million have been received. Only minor damage was sustained to the property of members.
WINDSOR, ONT — FRAN RICCHI: A Church member's ten-year-old son was diagnosed earlier this year as having progressive kidney failure of his one remaining kidney. He was given four to six weeks to live. That was six months ago. Recently, the doctors noted a significant improvement. They had told the mother earlier that this condition was impossible to improve, and could offer no scientific answer except to say, "Whatever you are doing, keep it up!" She said she would. We continue to pray for a complete healing.
WESTLOCK, ALTA — ROBERT J. MILLMAN: We heard that a major employer in the area has agreed to accommodate our four baptized members who had requested absences to keep the weekly Sabbath, despite rigid schedules that require Saturday work at least once a month for all employees. This answer to prayer has come after almost a year of fasting and prayer.
MONTREAL, QUE — CECIL MARANVILLE: I invited to services this month a young woman who was keeping the weekly and annual Sabbaths on her own, after initial contact with the Church of God only 18 months ago. Her first contact was through one of our local PT stands. That' s very encouraging.
From Southern Africa
PIETERMARITZBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — BILL WHITAKER: Mr. Waterhouse's visit to this area was very inspiring to both the Durban and Pietermaritzburg brethren. Coming as it did shortly after the Feast of Tabernacles accentuated the spiritual excitement of all concerned. It was terrific to see and hear him!
SWAZILAND — BRYAN MATHIE: The members have grown spiritually over the year and benefited greatly from the Feast of Tabernacles and Mr. Waterhouse's visit. Several traveled to Johannesburg to hear him.
HARARE, ZIMBABWE — ROBERT KLYNSMITH: Several have commented on the quality of sermons being received from Pasadena. Brethren found Mr. Armstrong's sermon on abortion deeply moving. Dr. Zimmerman's tape on marriage also proved to be very thought-provoking and sobering. We were all thrilled to hear from Mr. Waterhouse and appreciated his timely message about God's Kingdom.
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA — JOHN WHITE: We are still experiencing a good "new visit" trend and a subsequent number coming on to the PM list. All this despite Christmas causing detours for PM activity.
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — ANDRE VAN BELKUM: There continues to be a close family atmosphere among members and a sense of urgency regarding the times in which we are living. About 40 of our YOU members were accepted to SEP and are thankful for the opportunity to participate in such an outstanding program. 1985 should be a fantastic year of growth!
From the Caribbean
HAMILTON, BERMUDA — CECIL PULLEY: We continue to receive a very good response to the television program. Mr. Armstrong has been covering very timely subjects and people are beginning to see that what he says is the truth. We are currently receiving an average of 15 calls per program.
BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS — ARNOLD HAMPTON: It is gratifying to see the PM activity picking up since the Feast, even though we are not on TV. Some have been following the Church for years and are sensing the urgency of the times. They have decided to act on what they know.
