Here are some guidelines for being a welcome guest. Whether you are invited to a formal dinner party, a casual get-together, a wedding or a friend's home for the weekend, do you know how to be a great guest? Not knowing what you're supposed to do is embarrassing enough, but unintentionally doing something that is considered bad manners can be even worse. Plus, it can be a sure way not to get invited back. The French even have a phrase for making a mistake in social situations - it' s called committing a faux pas (pronounced foc pah, and literally meaning "a false step").
