Yes, it seems. A new disease doctors are calling environmental illness or 20th century disease has emerged in North America. The condition produces severe reactions to synthetic materials, common chemicals, cigarette smoke, car exhaust, natural gas and other by-products of the 20th century. Essentially, the disease is a malfunction in the immune system, which defends the body against infection.
