It would be easier to listen if our minds didn't work so fast! "Hey, Bill, how come we didn't see you at the practice yesterday? Aren't you going out for the team this year?" asked Mr. Jones, Bill's tennis coach. "Yesterday?, didn't know we were having practice yesterday! I thought it started next week!" "It was announced on the home room bulletin yesterday and the day before." Bill's stomach felt sort of funny as he explained that he hadn't exactly listened to the bulletin.
