Boulanger, a soup vendor in Paris, opened the first dining room known as a restaurante, from the French restaurer - to restore. It must have been a good idea, for today we see countries literally saturated with eateries of every shape, size, menu, cost and decor. And people from all walks and stations in life frequent them.
