A Language All Their Own
Penelope A Goudie

The other day the telephone rang. "Did you send me a bouquet of flowers?" a friend asked excitedly. "I received it this morning, but it wasn't signed. I wish I knew whom to thank!" We had not sent the flowers. It seems the sender wished to remain anonymous. Yet the flowers conveyed a message, even without a signature. Just by being sent, the flowers said, "Someone cares," for flowers have a language all their own. It is universal. It breaks language barriers. It crosses continents. Do you know their language? A silent celebration. Flowers play a significant part in our daily lives. Look around your home. You may be surprised how many floral patterns you can see. We decorate our walls with floral paper or paintings of flowers. Girls wear dresses with floral prints and put flowers in their hair.
