If you've faced failure, you're in good company! People thought Tom was hopeless. After attending school for only three months, his teacher called him "addled." That was the end of his school career. His mother decided she would have to try teaching him at home. At age 12 Tom got a job selling newspapers on trains, but (according to some reports) that job ended because he accidentally set fire to a rail car! In his late teens, he was fired from job after job. And, when he patented his first invention, nobody wanted to buy it. Tom failed from the very beginning.
