Howdy, y'all, good morning to everybody. Had to let you know that there's another Southerner here; we can't let Roy Holladay hog the whole show. You all know Archie Bunker, don't you? There's Archie, Edith, Gloria, and Meathead. All In The Family. They were a successful TV series because they were a family. Though there were problems, they dealt with those problems as a family unit. Strong, powerful, together, they dealt with the issue of Edith, the mother, being raped, and all of the internal turmoil and problems of her own self and the family. They also dealt with her rebate on the prunes and whether or not she should give back the money. And how she was getting wealthy on the rebate of the prunes, a little bit illegally. They dealt with Gloria's abortion. And of course, Bigoted though he was, they always dealt with Archie and his racial difficulties. But All in the Family related to people and was a very highly successful TV series; people were attracted to it. Because it dealt with the issues of life, and because it was a family.
