THE first overseas personal appearance campaign conducted by Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong was a resounding success. Thousands attended the three nights of dynamic speaking (May 17, 18 and 19) held in the Araneta Coliseum at Quezon City. The personal appearance campaign was the culmination of many meetings with government officials in the Philippines, and at least two of these officials gave Mr. Armstrong's presentation their heartiest personal endorsement. How It Began. Events which led to the campaign began in September 1970. At that time Mr. Armstrong had the privilege of meeting with President Marcos and was guest at a dinner hosted by Secretary of Labor Bias Ople.
