Perched on a pedestal is the tank that led Soviet columns into the city in May 1945. 5. Banners on buildings proclaim 30th anniversary of the lifting of the Nazi yoke. 6. Tightly compacted headstones in the Jewish cemetery where almost 200, 000 Prague Jews were buried from 1439 to 1181. Prohibited from acquiring additional land, ghetto leaders were forced to bury their dead layer upon layer, moving earlier headstones to each new surface.
