This is a slide of, the statue of Roger Williams who was the founder of the colonies of Rhode Island in the early Americas. I mentioned the other day we should be familiar with this only in the fact that of all the colonies in the New World, Rhode Island was the one that was established on the basis of freedom of religion for all. While it was a generalized statement in the colonies and it certainly came to be the essential American way of doing things, it was not always so and that whenever any religious denomination had enough power they pretty much enforced the doctrines and beliefs of that religious organization, so we can at least be thankful for Roger Williams, cause it was in his colony that God could establish His Church...
