It has been said that if the Titanic sank today, the men would be the first ones to scramble into the lifeboats leaving the women and children with the sinking ship. Are there no gentlemen left? Are the women and young girls doomed to live out their lives being treated as one of the guys? Far too little emphasis is placed on manners and etiquette these days. Treating others with proper respect is sometimes lacking even in those who do not purposely try to mistreat others. Having good manners doesn't mean stuffy formality though. It means treating others the way you would want to be treated. A hypothetical case; Following is a hypothetical example of a family style barbecue picnic that Mr. and Mrs. Smith planned with their sons George and John. The boys invited 10 boys and girls to dinner. Jill, one of the girls invited, needed a ride, so George and John told her they'd pick her up at 7 that evening.
