Catholic theologians at Vatican Council propose working with Protestant scholars on new translation! Will a new common Bible replace all others - including the King James translation? The Vatican Council II is plunging ahead on a new program for church unity. One of the biggest proposed steps is a unique common translation of the Bible. The purpose is twofold: 1) to provide a common scripture as a basis for later discussion of Roman Catholic traditions; 2) to replace all translations which do not meet the joint approval of Catholic and Protestant leaders!
