RHODESIA WHY NO PEACE IS IN SIGHT

The Geneva Conference on Rhodesia has adjourned, its delegates locked in a stalemate over how to arrive at a formula for achieving a peaceful transition to black rule. Meanwhile the Soviet Union is stepping up its military aid to guerrillas who aim to "liberate" the country by force of arms. American intelligence sources report that Russian ships have recently been unloading additional tons of ammunition and other materiel in the ports of Tanzania and Mozambique. The same sources also have been informed that about 5,000 Rhodesian guerrillas have been moving gradually from Mozambique to camps in Tanzania for training. Mozambique, Tanzania and other black African countries have openly declared their intention to support guerrilla operations aimed at toppling the white government of Rhodesia.
